It is against liberty, human rights, principles of truth, justice, and proof of evidence of “war crimes” committed by various individuals rounded after 9-11 that Guantanamo Bay detention camp was established and propagated for some purported purpose by the U.S. military, U.S. government including Bush and Obama administrations, and U.S. Congress.

      Truth Questions

There remain ~40 detainees at present time down from original ~779 or so prisoners under U.S. custody from January, 2002 since President Trump signed executive order in January 30, 2018 keeping the prison open indefinitely. One prisoner was transferred during President Trump’s tenure.

Does the U.S. government or military has any verifiable proof to detain these remaining detainees. How come Geneva Conventions to prisoners of war does not apply to these detainees? What are the charges or evidence against them besides “National Security” issues to keep them there indefinite or arbitrary detention?

As you may know, European Union members and the Organization of American States, as well as non-governmental organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have condemned legal status and physical condition of detainees at Guantánamo.

See Khan, Irene (25 May 2005). “Amnesty International Report 2005 Speech by Irene Khan at Foreign Press Association”. AI Index: POL 10/014/2005 (Public). Retrieved 15 March 2006.

Human Rights Watch in its 2003 report concluded that “Washington has ignored human rights standards in its own treatment of terrorism suspects. It has refused to apply the Geneva Conventions to prisoners of war from Afghanistan, and has misused the designation of ‘illegal combatant’ to apply to criminal suspects on U.S. soil.”

Also, Lord Steyn called it “a monstrous failure of justice,” because “… The military will act as interrogators, prosecutors and defense counsel, judges, and when death sentences are imposed, as executioners. The trials will be held in private. None of the guarantees of a fair trial need be observed.” See A prominent judge in the United Kingdom, was quoted in The Independent on 26 November 2003, regarding the planned trial of some prisoners by military tribunal.

In addition, the UN Committee Against Torture in 2006 protested prisoners’ treatment at Guantánamo Bay, stating that indefinite detention constitutes blatant violation of the UN Convention Against Torture, and called on the U.S. to close the Guantánamo facility. There are many human rights organizations, foreign government including democratic countries, and others who have reports that detainees have been tortured or otherwise poorly treated. A 2013 Institute on Medicine as a Profession (IMAP) report stated that health professionals in conjunction with the military and intelligence services “designed and participated in cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment and torture of detainees.”

Red Cross inspectors and released detainees have alleged acts of torture, including sleep deprivation, inducers of stress by extreme light and/or sound exposure, staying in certain position for extended times, beatings and locking in confined and cold cells.

      See below:

CIA made doctors torture suspected terrorists after 9/11, taskforce finds The Guardian. Retrieved 24 May 2014.

Williams, Carol J. (4 November 2013). “Military, CIA compelled medics to abuse detainees, report says”. Los Angeles Times.

Bob Woodward (14 January 2009). “Guantanamo Detainee Was Tortured, Says Official Overseeing Military Trials”. The Washington Post.

Did these methods yield any high-value information, thwart major terror attacks, or end “War on Terrorism?”

It looks like Guantanamo Bay detention camp is high-cost experiments in human torture, prisoner treatment, and psychological operations ignoring boundaries of laws of peace and war to be used to study the effects of such conduct and their responses. How come the released and remaining detainees were not given “fair trial” in either civilian courts or military tribunals to prove their alleged “war crimes” or charges against them or their conspiracies against U.S.A.?

The military-industrial complex (term attributed to former President/General Eisenhower) has no case(s), except abuse of military powers, injustice, and some arbitrary rounding up of detainees from foreign land and their indefinite retention without due process?

In conclusion, are you going to support or oppose the closing of Guantanamo Bay detention camp?
